Make a Placemat!

This month we are hanging placemats at the store in our display area.  It's not too late to join in!  Just make a placemat using a pattern or design of your choice with a nautical or food theme to hang in Tumbleweed for the month of August.  Each placemat should have a recognizable piece of nautical or food fabric purchased at Tumbleweed in it.

With each placemat you bring in for display, you will receive one chance to enter a drawing for a gift certificate.  Only one placemat of each design can be submitted for display.

So, we are hanging placemats on Monday so there's still time to participate!  Get busy and bring in your placemat! Monday is the last day to bring them in!

Portia Gold

Portia Gold has finished her quilt top!!

It is from a Jen Kingwell pattern called "Arabian Nights" that was published in a QuiltMania magazine.

Portia used English paper piecing and hand appliqué techniques in addition to machine piecing.

It is absolutely  beautiful!!

Yay for Project Runway!

Project Runway season 13 started tonight!  I love Project Runway!  Pictured is one of the contestants, Sean Kelly. Actually I think it is him, but he designed these outfits in the past.  Not tonight.  Don't you think they are very quilt - like?  I really like them!

Ruth!

Ruth Wilcox made herself a quilted jacket!

Here's the back view!

Ruth brought in this old quilt top that she got from Diane Foster.

They think the quilt belonged to Diane's Grandmother.

Ruth is working on it and she is going to finish it

hopefully in time for next year's Bayberry Show!

Summer Misc.

Summer is going by in a blur!  I made this top that has a Summer feel to it.  It reminds me of the beach.

Marci Tyldesley is ready for the beach!  She showed us this beach/wine bag she made!

My son, Joel, was visiting for the fourth of July festivities and showed me this picture of a flag he made that hangs in his office at work!  Not a quilt, it's made of wood but you can definitely  see the quilt influence!  Makes me proud!!

Three of my cousins wanted to sew while they were visiting and here are the results!  They all drew a small picture on a piece of fabric and then I showed them how to stitch it using embroidery thread.  Now they are ready to frame and hang, make into a little pillow, or save and add more embroidered squares to make into a quilt.

I met baby Edella for the first time and she loved her new quilt!
