Beginner Quilting

Beginner Quilting - Start a Sampler Quilt!

We have added another class to our schedule!  Ellie Held is going to teach beginner quilting!  This class is for beginners who wish to learn to make quilts and or any quilter who would like to learn or improve their quilting skills.

You will start by making simple blocks that you can arrange into a small quilt.  You will learn workmanship methods and construction techniques by making 1, 2, and 4 patch squares, and half-square triangles.

Learn about fabric choices and colors.  Blocks can be scrappy or color coordinated.

Future classes will include blocks with different construction techniques.

Classes will meet the second Sunday of every month starting March13 from 12 to 4.  Cost is $8 per class.

Quilts by Laura Carlyle!

Laura Carlyle has some of her quilts on display this month at Tumbleweed!  Laura is back teaching appliqué here!! A lot of you probably remember taking appliqué classes from her, especially Baltimore Appliqué.

Laura will be teaching a beginning hand appliqué class on Saturday, February 20.  Then on April 3 and 17 she will be teaching "A Touch of Appliqué".  This class is geared toward making a "fat quarter friendly" quilt and add custom appliqué designs on to your piecing.  On this sample, Laura used beach colors and added appliqué sea gulls to personalize it.

So, come in and take a look!
Hand applique is perfect for keeping busy on a nice cozy chair or couch on a cold winter evening!

Stay warm and quilt!!
