Thursday morning Studio Club

Did everyone finish their ugly boxes and bring them to the store?  We have 20 boxes on display
at the store!!  If you forgot to finish yours  and bring it in, it's not too late.  Bring your box in
anytime and we will put it out on display.  Definitely come in and see them.  They are awesome!
Speaking of awesome, here are some of the Thursday girls showing off the aprons they made.
Some of them even cook, too.
What else was going on?  Mickey worked on a braided quilt.
Nancy had some applique with her.
EEda Jill was making really cool flowers to use as a border on her shawl she knit.
Always quite an eclectic assortment of projects on Thursdays!

Brownies

We had a Brownie Troop visit yesterday to do a project.  We used felt and embroidery thread
and the girls made small pincushions.
They choose their own colors and cut felt to design their pincushions.
There were  initials, birds, flowers, hearts, and I can't remember what else. Everyone had a
good time and everyone finished their project.
Nancy's granddaughter Taylor was one of the brownies and we were happy to see her and all of
her friends!

Customer catch-up

Priscilla got her 9-Patch Pizzazz quilt top sewn in class.  Not much more to go on it.
Ann Ashley has a kid's quilt done using fabrics from her stash.
Sandra McCann is started on machine quilting this fun top.
We're used to seeing really bright fabrics in Janet's quilts.  The darker toned ones are great too!

Store stuff

Just a reminder!  How is your ugly box coming?  April 30 is coming soon!  There's still plenty
of time so don't panic or give up.  Some people have brought their's in already.  I'm still working on mine.  We still have a few boxes left if you'd like to join in.  I'm kind of glad we have
a few left, because I know when I see some of the boxes on display I'm going to have one of those "Oh my God, I love it"  moments and want to immediately go home and decorate another
box.
Here's some new fabric that arrived this week.  We also received two bolts of pre-quilted fabric
that would be great for bags.  I'll take a picture and post it next week.
Now, I'm off to New York for a quick trip.  I'll be back to work on Monday.  Have a nice weekend!  The weather is supposed to be great, at least around here.

Quilts Happen

Last week we got in this new fabric and this book.  The book has a lot of inspiring quilts to make in it.
Pretty soon that new bolt of fabric started to gather friends like a party was starting.
Willie took the fabrics home and the party continued at her house.  The fabric had a lot of fun!
The result:  a gorgeous quilt emerged from the pile of fabric.
Quilts Happen!

Customers

Grandma Barb showed us this cute baby quilt she made for her great grand niece.  I love her
trims and lace and buttons on it.
Judy Sebastian stopped by the shop on her way back from New York after attending a three-day
workshop with Carol Shinn.  Carol Shinn will be doing a workshop locally for the Bayberry
Quilt Guild in October.  Judy had a great time doing thread work and highly recommends taking a workshop with Carol if you have the chance.

Hexagon Quilt

Ruth was shopping over the weekend and came across this treasure.
I love old quilts.  Click the pictures to see the fabrics better.
You hardly notice the variety of fabrics used to make up the individual diamonds until
you look close.
I could spend the day just looking at all the different fabrics.
The blue pathway and orange print border and back are great.

Finally Flowers

The flowers have finally arrived!  It takes longer for Spring to arrive on Cape Cod.
I'm always pleased by the people who really put time and effort into growing their flowers.
I can always walk or drive and see lots of flowers.
You have to be a pretty self-sufficient flower to survive in our yard.
Lynn Conroy made this beautiful wallhanging with bright flowers, just in time for Spring!
I'm always glad that lots of people make quilts with flowers for me to see, too.

Misc.

This is my wrought iron scissor wall decoration.  It hangs in my studio above my couch.
I added a few hanging things to my chandelier at Christmas time and decided to leave them
there after the Christmas decorations came down.
Isn't this fun?  I found a leopard iron board cover in clearance in Marshalls and had to have it.
Anything you do is usually more fun if leopard is involved.

Quilts by Margaret Sullivan

There's a lot of pieces in these quilts.  The borders are great! I love the zig zag arrangement of
the blocks and then the zig zag border.
I like the curves in this border.
Like I said, a lot of pieces.
Meet Purple Suzy!  Suzy is Margaret's granddaughter and a tracing of her is on this quilt.
It reminds me of Flat Stanley a little bit.  Everyone seems to trace kids' hands when they
are little, Margaret traces the whole body.  Very cool!!

Baby Quilts

This quilt is so cute!  Charlotte made it for a lucky baby!  The animals are make with minkee fabric.
Evie has two baby quilts in progress!  This Beatrix Potter one,
and this one using thirties fabric.
Sue made this quilt for Tanya and Coby Vincent of the Atlantic Coast Academy of Dance.  They
are expecting a baby ballerina.
Nancy's granddaughter is the lucky recipient of this dancing ballerina quilt.

Valerie Ward has finished her McKenna Ryan Christmas Quilt!  The bright colors are great!
Kathleen A. Foley Grimm was in to pick out this cool stack of black and whites for a new
series of dolls.  I can't wait to see them!  You can check out her dolls at GRIMITIVES
a box by April 30!  Wait until you see the boxes!  It's going to be fun to see.
Marianne Bermingham showed us this scrappy quilt she's almost done with.

Willie will be at the store on Sunday, the 19th, from 10-4 for an Open Sew.  There's room
to join in, so come with a friend, or come be yourself.  If you'd like to make a bag, she is the
bag lady.  Get help with whatever you are making, or just come for the company.
There is also room on Monday afternoons.  Come and play!!

New Thursday Projects

Eeda Jill finished this beautiful shawl.  The wool is incredibly light and sooo soft!
Paula is working on this batik wallhanging.
Sue appliqued a Spring flower on her vest.
Paula showed us the batik stamping she had done in a Bayberry Guild workshop with Trish Hodge.
We were lucky we got to see this year's raffle quilt from the Cape Cod Quilters Guild.Blue and white quilts always seem to look so crisp.  It's beautiful!

Emma's Quilts

Remember Liz?  She worked at Tumbleweed about 12 years ago while she was in high school?
Well, let me introduce you to her daughter Emma!  This picture of her, wondering why the dog
looks funny, was in yesterday's Cape Cod Times.

Emma enjoys going to tea at the Dunbar Tea House so she needed a going to tea quilt.
For her bedroom decor, Emma prefers Winnie the Pooh.

There are some occasions that do require a pink quilt.
You can never have enough Winnie The Pooh quilts!
