Box, Batiks and a tool.

I've got my box!  I finally decided on a green one.  Here's what I picked to play with so far. (It's looking kind of Christmasy but it won't when it's done.)  What fun!  It's going to be great to see what everyone does.
We got in 60 new bolts of batiks this week!  Here's a sampling.

Awesome!

Another tool that you shouldn't be without is the Kwik Klip.  There's still people out there that haven't tried it yet.  When you are safety pin basting a quilt to prepare for machine quilting, it makes things go much faster, easier and with no sore fingers or broken nails.  Ask us at the shop and we'll show you!

Jan made a pillowcase, cat fabric of course,
and a cat lamp.
Snobound is still going strong.  Mary has a lot done.
Nancy has done some beautiful embroidery on her Over the River and through the Woods quilt.
Dot made a bright colored pillowcase.

And a good time was had by all!

March of the Tools

A quick Flea Market Fancy update:  We sold out of #'s 4, 6, 8, 10, & 12 today.  The rest we still have in stock.  Thank you for all the phone calls!

Last year Heather Bailey designated the month of March to blog about her favorite tools - be it sewing, food, whatever.  This year she has invited people to join her March of the Tools 2009.  On the right hand side of the screen is her March of the Tools icon that you can click on and go to her blog where you will find a list of other participating blogs to check out.  

So that brings me to the first tool I'll tell you about.  I'm really not a gadget person but there are some things I consider necessary.  I really like the Binding and Hem clips (formally known as hair clips) that take the place of pins when you sew your binding on a quilt.  They're wonderful!  They work great, they don't stab you, and they're easy to use.  If you haven't tried them, you should!

I keep mine in a magnetic dish I bought in an automotive parts store. It's cool!  You can turn the dish upside down and knock it off the table onto the floor and not spill a clip.

Try it, you'll like it!

This is the wreck of a ship on the beach in Chatham.  It appeared for the first time in January 2008, I think, for a short time and then reappeared again around Christmas 2008.  Awesome isn't it?

Studios Magazine

Guess what!!

My studio is going to be in this magazine!  It's the third issue of Studios Magazine put out by Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine.  It's due out on March 31, 2009.  Here's a preview:

It's my really comfy high heel chair and giant champagne glass side table filled with buttons.  I have no idea what pictures of my room will be in there, but whatever isn't, I'll show you here in my blog.

Melissa Averinos from Yummy Goods on Rt. 149 in West Barnstable is on the cover of the magazine.  What are the chances of two people from West Barnstable being in the same issue?  Check out Melissa's studio.
