Sisters

It's that time of year again! Ann and Mary spend a week every summer in Provincetown. Part of the yearly sisters' ritual includes stopping at Tumbleweed on their way out to the end of the Cape. This summer they brought us some Show & Tell.

Ann made this Gee's Bend Quilt to celebrate Mary's retirement. It was quilted by Tricia Wolski. Don't you love the little red square?

Mary's working on a charm quilt for her third granddaughter. She has made one for each of her three granddaughters and also one for her son and daughter-in-law in Australia.

In other news, the Images Show took place this past weekend, and guess what?
Katie got a ribbon on her quilt! Not only was Katie's quilt hanging at Images, but it got a white Honorable Mention Ribbon on it! Not only Willie, but all of us at Tumbleweed are proud MaMas!! YOU GO GIRL!!!

Linda's Quilts

Linda brought some quilts in to show us. This one she bought for $20 at Brimfield!

Quilts by Stephanie Walenski

Today for your viewing pleasure I have quilts by Stephanie Walenski to show you! Stephanie is a very prolific quilter whose quilts are always fun and interesting to look at! Definitely click on these first two to see some details.

I love to look at it and see who's in the houses. She's made quite an eclectic village!
This one was made after attending a Nancy Crow workshop.
Stephanie's quilts will be on display in Tumbleweed until the end of August.

Some Bayberry Show Quilts

This is Jeannine Wolfe's first large quilt! She machine pieced, appliqued, and quilted the quilt using applique designs from Karen K. Stone.

Jean Howes was also inspired by a Karen K. Stone design. The smaller diamonds were paper pieced.

Juliet Carlson cut out this quilt eight years ago and it's a duplicate of the quilt she made for her sister. This one is for her granddaughter Kate. Machine pieced; professionally machine quilted by Diane H. McGuire.
Sally McMorrow's quilt called Lavender and Lace is her first bed quilt! It's machine pieced and professionally machine quilted by Diane H. McGuire.

Misc. Blue

Kay Alvezi made this quilt and is sending it to her son in law John, who is currently in Iraq. It's a surprise and he is going to love it!

Joanne Joyce moved from Alpharetta, Georgia , four years ago and before she left her friends gave her quilt blocks. She has finally put the blocks together and completed this quilt!
Ellen Whelan made this purse and is using it herself! Very cute!
Here's Ruth modeling her blue jacket she made for herself! It was in the Bayberry Show and got a blue ribbon. Congratulations Ruth!

Bayberry Show Begins

The Bayberry Quilt Show is in full swing! It started today and will continue tomorrow and Saturday. Pat is there from the Tumbleweed in Pembroke with lots of good things for you to look at and buy.

Maureen stopped at the store after the show, dressed for the occasion! Her granddaughter, Julia, age 10, had made her some pretty yo yos that Maureen artfully arranged on her shirt. She also had a headband that Julia made for her with yo yos on it. Of course she had made her matching bag, too!
Nancy helped man the store for all the after show visitors. She was asked frequently if she had made her blouse. She said no, but WE know she could have! If you look closely you can see her, she's blending in with the batiks!
On a totally unrelated topic, here's some Christmas fabric that arrived this week. The dotted fabric is really buttons instead of plain dots. Very festive!
I'll have pictures from the show soon. I just have to remember to bring home my program booklet so I can see who belongs to which quilt.

Is anyone thinking about Halloween? Some of us really like Halloween. Valerie Ward does. She made this quilt using the Atkinson Designs pattern called Fire Escape.

Here's a closer look.
Isn't this fabric great? It's an Alexander Henry print. It reminds us of Edward Gorey. His house is right down the street from us.
