Quilts

Katherine Butterworth is working on this quilt called "Opposites Attract" from the Sizzlin Sixties book by Anka's Treasures!  

Annmarie Gavin has finished this wallhanging for her Granddaughter!  

Michelle Sgarlat is ready to put borders on her latest appliqué piece!

Judy brought this in to show us - a baby quilt for friend!

 Stephanie Nesi has now completely finished this quilt!  Yellow and white is so crisp and cheerful!

This week went by fast!  Darlene Lebeau is on to the next step in finishing her blue and yellow quilt!

Betsy is making a long tablerunner!

On Monday, Elaine Dwyer finished the borders on this Majestic Mountain Quilt! 

She's already got this Dresden Plate quilt in progress and was auditioning sashing and borders for it on Monday!  She decided on this fabric for the sashing,

 but split in two with the bright blue in between!

Mary Collari is already sewing her Dresden Plates together!

Mallory's Quilts

I was visiting my sister a couple of weeks ago and took a look at a couple of quilts I had made for my niece, Mallory, years ago.  This is Mallory's horse quilt!

Her room was red and there wasn't all the "girly" colored horse related fabric available like there is now.  I wanted a big horse motif for the center and after brainstorming at the shop wound up photo copying a horse from a piece of fabric and then Carol Ayotte took it to the printer and blew it up for me.  Mallory chose the pictures of her that she wanted on the quilt.

I embroidered some horses and when Mallory came to visit told me she could draw me horses if I needed more so it turned out I had enough to put one Mallory drawn horse in each of the corners.

 She did draw one winged horse that is embroidered with sparkly silver thread!

It was fun to make and Mallory's involvement made it special!

When she needed a new quilt, Mallory made her own while she was visiting during the summer!  I helped hand sew the binding!  

 When Mallory was a baby/toddler my sister Kathy embroidered this Raggedy Ann center panel!  Then she sent it to me to do something with it.

 We changed the bottom left corner to add Mallory's name and hand print.

Then I found some Raggedy Ann and Andy fabric and some tie dye fabric and made a quilt!  I don't know why I wound up with tie dye. It's not what you think of with Raggedy Ann.

Now her room has recently been painted a pretty light green that she has accented with orange.  Before I went to visit I sewed a tuffet using Amy Butler's Gumdrop Pillow pattern and stuffed it while I was there.

Monday Morning

TUMBLEWEED WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY FOR MEMORIAL DAY!  

We will be open Sunday, as usual, from 12 to 5.

There's always a lot of different things being worked on in the classroom on Monday mornings!

This week Barbara worked on some embroidery,

Dot M. did some appliqué on her Dresden Plate,

Joanne worked on a pinwheel quilt,

and Dot H. was making a black and white quilt!

Mary Collari finished the borders on these two Christmas quilts!

Jeanne Carey has two beautiful Granddaughters that was busy making bibs for!  

Adele's Classes!

Adele will be teaching this Windmill Quilt in an upcoming class on June 12!

Reversible Bargello Tablerunners will be taught on June 26!  

This is a sample for her strings tablerunner!

Of course you can always expand it and make a quilt like Michelle Collishaw did after taking a class with Adele!  

This is something that Adele is working on, and it looks like fun to me!  

Remember, these classes are for the project or Open Sew so you are welcome to work on your own project and get some help from Adele!

Judy Sebastian

On Thursday, May 16, former Bayberry Quilt Guild member , Judy Sebastian, an accomplished fiber artist and quilter will be speaking at the  Eastham Historical Schoolhouse, the yellow building opposite the National Seashore Visitors Center , as part of the Eastham Historical Society lecture series.  She will be speaking about her journey with fabric , fiber art and the use of dyes.  The lecture starts at 7 PM and the suggested donation to the Historical Society is $5.
