Go Bruins!

The Bruins won! They're going to the finals! My son and daughter played hockey all through their school years. Keri also figure skated. She's still playing hockey.

This is a quilt I made about 25 years ago for my son's hockey coach. He and his wife were expecting their first baby.
Great memories!

Thursday Morning Studio Club

I thought I'd show you a few of the things going on in the classroom last Thursday. First, this beautiful handbag hooked by Debbie Mackenzie! It's absolutely WONDERFUL!
Here's the back! Debbie works at "With Hook In Hand" in Dennis, where you can also find some patterns she has designed. Check it out if you like rug hooking!
Vi Olsen made this cute quilt and will be donating it somewhere. That is so nice! There's some little girl that is going to be happy!
Check out this bag! Jessica Woods-Robinson made it! She had some sheep, she used their fur or wool or whatever you call it at that stage, spun it into yarn, and knit and felted the bag! Oh, and she dyed the yarn to the colors she wanted! The handles are from Tumbleweed. Don't you love it?
This is not a good picture, but it will give you an idea of what Paula Tuano is working on. It's a lot of applique that is going to be fantastic when it's finished! It's beautiful!
So, anyone is welcome to come and join in the fun on Thursday mornings!

Quilts

Willie made this cute little wallhanging and will be teaching it on Saturday, June 4, in her "Bits and Pieces Class."
This quilt, made by Marie Spadaro, was finished and successfully auctioned off!
Now she's working on this wallhanging! She's currently having a lot of fun experimenting with different threads while adding texture with machine quilting.
Stephanie made this quilt in a class with Sue Pellard.

Misc.

Lee Hamilton made this purse for her sister! It has bluebirds with a nest on the front,
and flowers on the back! The skinny piping is beautiful! It's a really nice accent to the bag!
She made the inside nice and bright to make it easier to find things inside! Great gift!
Betsy finished this bag! Click the picture to see the fabric better, it has leopard accents!
Kathryn Butterworth finished this log cabin quilt! Laurie LaConte quilted it for her. Thirties fabric and white is so cheerful!

Bags By Robyn

We look forward to seeing Robyn come through the door because it's always fun to see what bag she's carrying!
The outside is always interesting, rick rack, crocheted flower, multiple fabrics, but the inside is always a surprise! An inspiring message, buttons, pockets, trims, charms! You never know what is going to be there!
Here's another one!
Click on the picture for more details!
I love this one! That's a Hermes tie decorating the front!
You can see more of Robyn's bags here.

Misc. Monday

The Class Schedule is finally done! You can click it on the right side of this screen to view it.

This is Marilyn Holle's blue and white quilt, in progress! It still has little pieces of labeled paper for piecing on it, but doesn't it look fantastic? I love blue and white! It's so crisp looking!
We have more Grab N' Go Kits in. We needed to restock some and there is a new style! These kits are so fast to do and make great gifts!
How cute is this?!! Cupcakes is the new one! What a great idea for a birthday! Who wouldn't love this with a real cupcake in the middle? Without the candle buttons it could be an anytime present. Just a "little thought."
Barbara Rogers has finished another quilt! It's nice and bright and a gift for someone.

Yes!!!

I am so glad that Osama bin Laden is dead!!! It's just too bad that there aren't any firemen in Hell to kick his ass for all eternity!

For those of you who don't know, my brother, Firefighter Kevin Bracken, was killed on September 11, 2001 in the attacks on the World Trade Center. He and eleven other Firefighters from his unit never made it out of the South Tower.

My Father was contacted by the Cape Cod Times for his feelings on the subject. You can read the article here. (He expressed his feelings a little calmer than I did.)

Now, back to my regularly scheduled blog:

The class schedule is really late. It will definitely be done by Monday, if not sooner.

The new Jo Morton Little Women's Club is starting Thursday, May 5. This Club will run from May 2011 to April 2012 and will meet on one Thursday a month from 2 to 5 or 6 to 9. Sign up today!

Laurie LaConte will be at the store on Thursday, May 5, from 1 to 2:30 to drop off and pick up quilts for machine quilting.

We will be closed on May 8 for Mother's Day.
