What's Willie Up To?

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!  Don't forget, Tumbleweed is closed Monday for Memorial Day!  Tomorrow (Sunday) we will be open from 12 to 5, as usual.
Willie will be teaching this Spring Blossom Table Topper in her Bits and Pieces Class on June 2.  It uses the 12 Degree Wedge Ruler from Phillips Fiber Art.  Phillips Fiber Art is offering a free pattern each month using this ruler.

This is another of their patterns that Willie has made.  See more here.

July and August will bring you the 3 Dudes Majestic Mountain Throw.  Willie made her's with brown and black batik strips and it looks great!!

Diane H. McGuire brought in another Dr. Seuss quilt!  This time it's the Lorax!  She designed the quilt and Carol Burton sewed it for the Bayberry Quilt Show this summer.
Terry Curry has finished her Jo Morton quilt!!  Look at all those little triangles!
Joellen Haley made this beautiful Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt for her sister (an identical twin) and she started it in 2008 when her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her sister is doing wonderful now!!  Joellen had never even sewed before and she made this quilt top all by hand and then mating quilted it.  Truly a labor of love!
Olive showed us the tablerunner she finished in class with Carol Ayotte called "Served With a Twist"!

New Couch Quilt!

Last weekend I cleared out my closet a little bit.  It doesn't happen often.  Really!

I found a lot of tee shirts that I needed to get rid of.  After awhile I realized I was sorting them into color piles as I went through them.  Not the ones I was keeping, that would make sense, I was sorting them before I put them into the give away bag.  I realized that the pile pictured above would look great in my sewing room, so I decided to make a throw for my couch.
I kept a brown and turquoise pile, too.  My niece and daughter like these colors and might need a throw for their couches at some point.
I kept it simple, just big squares of fabulous color.  They're very soft!  It's going to look great on my couch.  Take a look here  to see my couch in my sewing room.
I think I'm going to put minkee on the back to make it super cozy!
