Open Sew With Willie!

Do you want to come to an Open Sew Class but you don't know what you would like to make?  Willie has lost of inspiration for you! Willie teaches Open Sew on Monday afternoons, a couple of Tuesday afternoons a month, all day Fridays, and Tuesday nights!  Tuesday night is nice to come to and relax and sew in our air conditioned classroom!   How about a tabletopper - Merry Go Round from Atkinson Designs!
Willie has made quite a few of the Jaybird Quilts Patterns - here's Unwind!

Lotus is another one from Jaybird.

Wonton is a little different!  All are easy to do!
Shari was in class today with Willie and was putting binding on her quilt - Science Fair by Jaybird Quilts - that she started another day in an Open Sew with Willie!

Here's Willie's sample, along with a Haute Handbag and a pillow that she made using one Jelly Roll!

Here's a really cute crab wallhanging that she made!  The pattern is from Handcrafts by Jennifer.

A quick summer project would be these fruit placemats!

On Saturday, August 3rd, Willie will be teaching any Twister Pattern you would like to make in her Bits and Pieces Class.  Or make it during one of her other Open Sew Classes.

Dottie Long was working on this quilt today!  Nice colors!

Pat Burton was finishing up her soccer themed quilt today!  It is only her second quilt!

So, pick one of these patterns or bring whatever you are working on or would like to make and come hang out in the air conditioning!
There's other Open Sew classes during the week, also!  Check out our schedule on the right of the screen.  Click on it to open it.

Out and About!

I was recently in Boston and stopped at one of my favorite stores, Anthropologie!  I love looking at everything in there!  It is always full of inspiration!
Look - quilted chairs!  They have hand quilted cushions!  Bright fabrics!  I want six different chairs for my kitchen!

You have to click this one to see it better!  The sweater is a patchwork of different knitted stitched with pom pom trim accents!  Pom Poms!  I love Pom Pom trims! I'm not the only one who thinks they look good on everything!!

This tee shirt has a handkerchief like applique on it!

Look at all the tiny buttons around this neckline!

At a Gallery down the street there was this display in the window!!!  The piece on the left resembles a quilt made from strips and then there's a skull and birds!

Just like at Tumbleweed!  We have stripped quilts, lots of fabric with skulls and lots of bird fabric!

Then I was in Houston and went to the James Avery Jewelry store in the Mall and behind the register there was this quilt hanging on the wall!  You wouldn't expect to see a quilt in a jewelry store in a mall. I love seeing quilts in mainstream places!

Quilts!

Debbie Cole has completed her quilt!  She is giving it to a friend!
Maryann  Bowman machine quilted it for her!

Audrey Germer made this scrap quilt and also had Maryann quilt it for her!  She incorporated a lot of "orphan blocks" that she had from previous projects!

Debbie Zeida made bumper pads for her Grandson, James, and if you click on the photo you can see she machine embroidered his name on it!

Marie Spadaro made this quilt along with the 3rd grade students at St. Pius X School!  The students colored pictures and Marie printed them on fabric and put the quilt together.  Lisa Pasquarosa quilted it!

You can see some of the pictures better here!  This quilt was successfully auctioned off!

This is the other quilt that the pre-K class helped make!  Click it to see the pictures better!  Marie has been very busy lately!

Elsa Sampou has been busy, too!  She is using up a lot of scraps and making colorful quilts!

What fun!

Quilts

Corey Barrett made this quilt top and Marietta Gladding is going to machine quilt it for her!  I love it!
I love the colors, I love the polka dots, and I love the setting!
Donna K. is finishing up her batik quilt!

Ruth Wilcox had these vintage blocks and has now put them together and is now ready to put the binding on!

Betsy made herself a bright pink purse with a diamond button closure!  Of course she has matching hot pink clothing!

Sue Latis has her mystery top completed and ready to be finished!

Linda M. was working on her chicken hexagon quilt today!  It's great!

Here's a closer picture that you can click on to see even closer!  She has an amazing variety of chickens and eggs and other chicken accessories!

Quilts By Cordula Schwarz

Quilts By Cordula Schwarz are hanging at Tumbleweed this month!
She has a variety of styles represented - something for everyone to enjoy!

"Little Bright Mushrooms" was her own design made in a workshop with Ruth McDowell!  Click on the picture above and you can see her inspiration photo!

This one is a "Double Sliced Layer Cake" kids quilt made with a lot of bug fabric!

"Sparkling Gemstones" is from a Jelly Roll Book made with actual scraps of Kaffe fabrics instead of jelly rolls.

This one is called "Black Eyed Susans, again using Kaffe fabrics!

This beautiful Log Cabin quilt was a block of the month from Button Box in Wellesley, Ma.

"Storm at Sea" is Cordula's own design making use of the center panel!

So, come in and see them in person!
