Dave

Guess who came into the store today?  Neal McDonough, otherwise known as Dave, the psycho
killer from Desperate Housewives!  Cool, don't you think?  He was with his wife and a friend.
He was nice enough to let me take a picture and his wife graciously took it so I could be in the
picture too.  When we mentioned to people during the day that he had been in the store earlier, for some reason everyone seemed to say "What was he doing in the store?"  A couple of people asked if he was lost.  I personally don't understand it.  I mean after all, don't you think that everyone who comes to Cape Cod would want to stop by Tumbleweed?  I think so.  After all, it's the place to be.

This is Bette from Oklahoma City.  She was here on vacation with her husband, her daughter, and her daughter's friend, and stopped by Tumbleweed.  Apparently Bette had thought that she would be the most exciting person to stop by today, being she was from Oklahoma City. We assured her that she was also very exciting and we were happy to see her.
You never know who or what you'll find at Tumbleweed!

Tuesday night continued

Here's Katie on Tuesday night working on her Karen Stone Cinco de Mayo blocks.  They're
paper pieced and intricate.
This is what they look like.
These are some of her finished ones.  I can't wait to see it all together.
Mary Jo Boyne brought in this top that she finished.  Click it to see all the pictures.

Tuesday night

What's happening on Tuesday nights?  Well, Kelly layered a quilt she's making for her childhood friend, Doreen.  Lucky Doreen.
Carol and Megan cut five inch blocks for a challenge quilt.
June also cut her challenge blocks.
Christine was quilting a batik throw.
Priscilla was making pinwheels for a nautical quilt.
A very productive night!

And the winner is...

The Ugly Box Contest has officially ended.  Here are the winning three boxes!!  We had people coming in all month to see the boxes and place over 300 votes!  Thank you for voting, and thank you to everyone who decorated a box. Everyone loved the boxes!
The first place winning box was made by Barbara Finnerly!  She made this vanity out of her
box and accessorized  it with the girl and dress.  Congratulations Barbara!
Second place was won by BettyAnn Mahoney!  She used fabric and shells to create this lovely Sailor's Valentine. BettyAnn also made another Sailor's Valentine box.  It was hard for people to decide which one they liked best.
Third place went to Margie Mancini for this Victorian style box with buttons, ribbons,  and lace.  I love buttons!
All of the decorated boxes can be seen by clicking the Ugly Box Contest link on the right hand side of the blog.  (We're getting fancy here!)  There's also a link to the decorated bra display we had a few years ago, but it's not working today.  Don't forget this blog stuff is fairly new to me.  I think I'll have it figured out tomorrow.  So, for now there's the boxes to look at.  Enjoy!

Priorities

Last weekend, I decided it would be a good weekend to sew, sew, and sew some more.  So, I started another strippy baby quilt and flower pots from Freddy and Gwen's new book.  The flowers are going to be yo-yos and I needed a hand project because I have a road trip coming up, a cousin getting married.  So I sewed merrily along until Monday.
On Monday my son called me from Philadelphia and said he was coming home 4th of July weekend and he and his fiance wanted to get married.  At my house, in my yard.  My first thought was yeah!  they're getting married!  My second thought was we shouldn't have skipped weeding and gardening for the last three years.  My next thought was I needed to change the
outfit on my dress form to something more appropriate.  This is what she was wearing.

A little too heavy looking for a summer wedding.  So she changed to this.
My next thought was to continue sewing so I can clear my design wall.  I really have to start thinking about the rest of the house and pulling some weeds.  Wish me luck!!

More to see

Janet Igoe was in today and I loved her jacket and purse that she made.  The top of her purse
has the metal retractable rulers in them so it snaps open and closed.  Carol showed her how to
do it.  Very cool!!
Here's Willie and her lucky daughter Kate showing off another purse her Mom made her.  I wish my Mom made me lots of purses.  My daughter probably wishes her Mom made her lots of purses too.
Willie made this baby quilt for her new niece.  I don't know where she finds the time.
Sunny made this Christmasy hexagon quilt.  She told us it's the 11th one she's made.
 ( Hexagons
sewn by hand.)  Yet again, I wonder where she finds the time.
