Salley Mavor has a new book that is just out called "Pocketful of Posies: A Treasury of Nursery Rhymes."
It's beautiful!!Each page is one of Salley's original fabric relief illustrations and you've got to see them!
They are currently on exhibit at Historic Highfield Hall, in Falmouth, Ma., until Oct. 31.
Check out the details, they are amazing! Click it to see it better. Note the hook and eyes uses as hardware for the door.
These are all framed and under glass, so it was hard to get good pictures.
You can go to Salley's blog site to see better pictures.
The intricate stitching and the details are awe inspiring! You just can't stop looking at them!
This is one of my favorites, with little sea shells on the trees.
The couch was plain fabric and she stitched the design on it!! The pj's have teeny buttons .
Look at the multiple layers of edging at the bottom of her skirt!
Look at the texture on the tree!! And the owl!! I love owls!!
I could go on and on and on, I've always loved Salley's books, but you really have to go see it yourself. The exhibit will be traveling around, check her site for the schedule. It will be at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis from July 13-August 11, 2013 but only 25 pieces will be there as opposed to the 51 that are at Highfield Hall. I'd advise you to go to Highfield to see them because by the time they are in Dennis, you'll be wanting to see them again!
